Seventeen years ago...

a young ambitious Kristopher Michael Whitney came across the idea that the best way to meet women was through the art of dance. Eager to take his first step into social dancing, Kris attended his first swing dance class and was immediately hooked. The rest is history. He continued his dance education through a South Florida Fred Astaire franchise studio where he learned Ballroom and Latin dance fundamentals. After months of rigorous training he began working full-time as a dance instructor where he continued to teach for 5 years.

Since then, he has worked in various independent studios throughout Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Kris became a South Florida Swing legend and soon thereafter a respected white boy on the salsa scene. This "honorary Latino" can shake what his momma, or mama, gave him, placing 3rd in the World Hustle and Salsa Championships. "Dancing has changed my entire life," Kris explains as he practices his Cuban motion, continuing, "It not only helped me to meet great people, but it has taken me around the world and back." In addition to receiving some of the highest quality technical training from some of the best known names to Dancesport, Kris Whitney has picked up moves from all over the world. Kris has Waltzed his way through England, danced ruedas through the barrios of Puerto Rico and Cuba, and swing danced throughout the United States. Kris is currently the owner of Celebrity Dancesport with his beautiful wife and partner Amanda Witney.
